Calcification and atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries

چکیده
Calcification is a very common phenomenon in the coronary arteries, which part of atherosclerotic process, and degree calcification can predict clinical outcomes patients at high risk events. Both patterns its distribution are prognostic importance, but relationship artery with plaque instability extremely complex not fully understood. This article devoted to study markers their influence on development foci.

Cerebral atherosclerosis and coronary calcification.
Cerebral Atherosclerosis and Coronary Calcification To the Editor: We read with great interest the article by Vliegenthart et al1 concerning an association between stroke and coronary calcification. It is of interest whether coronary calcification is correlated with cerebral atherosclerosis. We also believe that coronary calcification could play a crucial role in the incidence of cerebral infar...
متن کاملDiffuse calcification in human coronary arteries. Association of osteopontin with atherosclerosis.
Coronary atherosclerosis is frequently associated with calcification of arterial plaque. To understand the mechanisms responsible for the formation of atherosclerotic calcification, we examined human coronary arteries for the presence and extent of mineral. In sections stained specifically for mineral, staining was diffuse and present in all atherosclerotic plaques. Hydroxyapatite was not detec...
متن کاملSkeletonized coronary arteries: pathophysiological and clinical aspects of vascular calcification
The role of calcification in coronary artery disease is gaining importance, both in research studies and in clinical application. Calcified plaque has long been considered to be the most important atherosclerotic plaque within the arterial tree and frequently presents a challenge for percutaneous intervention. Current investigations have shown that plaque calcification has a dynamic course that...
متن کاملFactors affecting the progression of atherosclerosis in the coronary arteries.
BACKGROUND The induction and progression of atherosclerotic changes is complex and influenced by many factors. The most important are enhanced concentration of LDL cholesterol, enlarged production of free radicals, the inflammatory reaction, endothelial damage, decreased concentration of HDL and increased prothrombotic activity. AIM To define the factors influencing the atherosclerotic proces...
متن کاملGender differences in coronary arteries and thoracic aorta calcification.
Calcifications are part of the development of atherosclerosis; they occur exclusively in atherosclerotic arteries and are absent in the normal vessel wall.1 Studies have demonstrated calcification in both coronaries and aortic arteries to be a specific marker of underlying atherosclerosis in the respective vascular beds.1 Extensive evidence exist that men are more likely to have calcification i...
